About the artist Tio

I started painting using acrylic in 2019. Since I was retired, I found that I had some free time. So I thought I would try painting. I have never painted or even done drawings up to that time. Not knowing anything, I did a few simple online tutorials, they were very helpful.

I jumped right in, some of my first painting (see below) were just putting paint on the canvas or getting a sketch done. Then I moved up to making some various shapes, then moved on to shading some items. I realized since I had nothing to go on, I figured to learn how to paint - I would need to copy some art that I liked. So that is what I did.

As I started, I told myself - if needed I’ll paint this canvas 30 times or more I would, I didn’t want to quit. It was very difficult at the beginning, but after I made one ok painting, I was encouraged to continue. I also found out that people would view my beginning work and make negative comments….I realized then to only share my work with people who were encouraging, what I mean is, I had no idea what I was doing, so to have someone say, you are copying someones work, so that isn’t real painting or your work isn't very good, I tried to say I was just learning. Anyhow, I have made a few ok paintings and I am now on my way to painting.

Starting in March 2023 I switched from acrylic paints to oil paints. So this is a new venture for me, we’ll see how it goes.

I encourage everyone if you have any desire to paint - I say yes you can do it!

Regards Tio

Below I have samples of my first painting & sketching works - finished and unfinished (good, bad and ugly), some from my imagination, others from photos or art I found, I had no idea what I was doing, I just decided to sketch & paint on a canvas. I thought it would be good for others to see where they could start out painting. I usually have 3 or so paintings going at the same time, so if I get bored on one I just switch to another. Remember not to give up or listen to negative comments from anyone, just paint !
